My name is Talisa and I am the owner of Boss Stitch. I am an embroidery artist specializing in goldwork embroidery. Goldwork is an ancient embroidery technique that uses metal threads instead of normal embroidery thread to make beautiful pieces. It is most commonly used in military and royal regalia. Goldwork is going through a revival, with many fashion ateliers and designers using goldwork embroidery in their collections.
My work is inspired by insects, flowers and symmetrical patterns and I like to call this entomology style goldwork embroidery. I have been stitching for many years but only recently became interested in goldwork embroidery and when I found this style I knew it was the art form for me. I like to embroider insects because they are incredibly interesting to learn about and I can use different thread types and colours to make them look realistic or completely abstract.
There is something incredibly satisfying about picking up needle and thread and being able to create any type of art you want with it. Embroidery is a very therapeutic art form and it can really help with your mental health, this was one of the reasons why I first got into stitching. After a long day in my full time job I can come home and unwind with some stitching.
If I'm not embroidering you can find me working full time as an Event Producer, living in London with my soon-to-be husband John and my cat Lola! In my spare time I like to watch TV, see friends, go to the pub, eat pizza and go to museums.
