I am a designer, writer, and educator. I have written numerous books about graphic design, including Thinking with Type, Design Is Storytelling, Graphic Design Thinking, Health Design Thinking, and Extra Bold: A Feminist, Inclusive, Anti-Racist, Nonbinary Field Guide for Graphic Designers. I teach in the Graphic Design MFA program at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore (MICA). I have conducted workshops and delivered lectures around the world. Sharing design knowledge is the passion that fuels my life. I am Curator Emerita at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City, where I organized numerous exhibitions, including Herbert Bayer: Bauhaus Master and The Senses: Design Beyond Vision. I love reading, writing, teaching, and learning new things about design.
