I'm Luisa Hurtado, but you might know me better as @designerluisa from TikTok. I'm a passionate upcycler and Fashion Designer.

I grew up in a small town in Mexico, in the beautiful region of Baja California. As a child, fashion always fascinated me. I dreamt of wearing unique clothes, different from what everyone else had.
I realized I wanted to start making my own garments because I was asking way too much from my grandma and my mom. So I decided to learn!
I was able to attend a university in my own state, in Mexico, where I graduated with honors in Fashion Design & Garment Industry.
Right after I graduated I was an assistant teacher in my own university teaching sewing & pattern making.. After that I had a few collections come out and Fashion Shows at city events that allowed me to reach a new market.
Not long after that, I met the love of my life, and moved to the United States where I started from scratch, without recognition, which was challenging.
I had fun during this time as well, I even made my own wedding dress and created some fun pieces for friends and family. I sold my designs at small local events, always seeking ways to share my passion for fashion.

This passion to share & teach led me to start my Youtube channel, and later TikTok.

It was on TikTok where my work, particularly a backpack made from upcycled jeans, caught the eye of many, including major brands like Levi's.

Now, I am focusing on sharing my knowledge with others and helping people around the world get started on their own projects, prioritizing creativity, sustainability, and lots of fun!
