Brazilian contemporary composer and performer, Matheus Souza studied Bachelor’s degree of Music at the Villa-Lobos Institute - UNIRIO, where he received guidance on music composition from Prof. Herz Dawid Korenchendler and where he was a student in the Contemporary Music Composition and in the Multimedia Improvisation classes of the Prof. Dr. Arthur Kampela.
Matheus Souza develops his work interacting music composition with music programming, scenic lighting, visual arts, philosophy, sociology, and environmental issues. The compositions of him - be they acoustic, electroacoustic, or mixed - have complex sound atmospheres aimed at experimenting with new music.
In partnership with music composition professors and students from the Villa-Lobos Institute, Matheus Souza works collaboratively, not only composing with other young composers, or revising new musical compositions for strings, but also performing on several world premieres of compositions for different instrumentations (with or without electroacoustic devices), such as: solo violin, trios, quartets, quintets, but also twelve hands piano.
