Sammael Paper Mache Mounted Head

I created a "mounted head" sculpture of Sammael from Hellboy. I created it as a sample for my Advanced Art students who I had tasked with creating their own creature or recreating an existing creature that was to be a "mounted head" or "taxidermy" sculpture

Paper mache, paper mache clay, drywall compound, white glue, hot glue, wire, polymer clay, spray paint, acrylic paint, cardboard, and wood

Using reference images, I started with basic forms of the head and began slowly building it out, adding the snout and eyes to the skull and then adding the lower jaw. As the head began taking shape, I built a neck/shoulder section that was attached to a plaque board with wires that the head was then attached to. Once everything was secured together, I began adding paper mache clay and cotton cloth saturated in white glue to create the texture of the skin and bone
