Introduction
I created a wallhanging using the tufting technique, featuring a gradient made from the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag. My aim was to symbolize the diversity that leads to a more open, free, and inclusive world. To express this, I not only blurred the boundaries between colors but also used a variety of materials - such as cotton, mercerized cotton, wool, merino wool, and alpaca - emphasizing the richness and multiplicity of identities and expressions.

Supplies
With gentleness in mind, I aimed to use materials that offer a more sustainable solution for the planet. The natural yarns were tufted onto a jute canvas base, which was then secured using 100% natural adhesive. The back of the tapestry is reinforced with a second layer of fabric - linen canvas - ensuring both durability and environmental responsibility.

Step 1: sketching and tufting
I began the process by creating a sketch to visualize the shapes and colors I wanted to use. After finalizing the design, I drew the pattern onto the canvas and used a tufting gun to insert the yarn into the fabric. This was followed by the adhesive application to secure the threads in place.

Step 2: finishing
After the adhesive had dried, I completed the final steps: brushing the surface and refining the contours with scissors.
This is how the wall tapestry came to life -representing the beauty of diversity and the belief that the freedom to love should be a fundamental right for everyone.
