Srabanti Dasgupta

Hello passerby! I am a Visual Artist from India, born and raised in different parts of my homeland. The rich diversity of cultural expressions is an inherent part of my being. My creative journey started at my alma mater CEPT, which made me aware of my vector. During my Bachelors, I had the opportunity to study in Portugal, exploring different parts of Europe. Post Graduation, I worked on various Interior Architectural projects in remote areas, building with natural materials.

Though I have always enjoyed drawing, I became more devoted to my art practice in 2016 because I desperately needed something that can keep me afloat. Since then it has always accompanied me. It was still not until 2021 when I was working on a monastery in Nepal, that I was offered to do a solo exhibition at Vidroh, an alternative gallery in Kathmandu. This uncalled validation bundled with the incomprehensible grief of my mother's sudden demise, gave me the energy to dive deeper into my practice and formally study art.

I finished my MA in Illustration (Authorial Practice) from Falmouth, UK and decided to move back to India to be closer to my roots. Since then I have been working independently while travelling frequently to further explore my practice. Thank you for passing by.
