Hi friends! I am an audio engineer, podcaster, and podcast producer currently living in Asheville, North Carolina, USA.
My journey in audio engineering started in my early teens when my high school band started throwing our own shows at a local fire truck garage. Yes, you read that right, we used to sing about our teen angst where our local firefighters used to park their massive fire trucks. It was honestly awesome. But we ran our own sound and we wanted to it be decent, so I learned my way around a little live soundboard to make sure everyone in our neighborhood could hear our whining loud and clear.
After graduating high school I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, but I figured recording bands sounded fun enough, so I got a bachelor's degree in audio production, graduating in 2013.
Pretty soon after graduating, I landed my dream job working alongside Taylor Larson, Grammy-nominated record producer specializing in modern metalcore productions. It was the perfect gig, but I quickly found out I hated recording bands. Womp.
So I continued with my college job at a coffee shop outside of Washington, DC, and perfected my latte art as I figured out what I wanted to do with my life.
Fast forward a few years and I'm working at a commercial cabinet shop in Nothern Virginia where I discovered podcasts and listening to them obsessively, averaging 9-10 hours a day. I realized that most podcasts sounded pretty terrible, and I thought this could be the perfect opportunity to put my audio skills to use in a relatively new field that desperately needed help.
I started my own podcast, Reminiscent, and helped several friends launch and produce their own podcasts. Pretty quickly I was producing podcasts professionally and managed to quit my job and go self-employed in 2016 producing podcasts and teaching fellow podcasters and podcast producers how to create great sounding podcasts.
And the journey is just beginning...
