Hi! I’m Flora, a stained glass artist from Dorset in England. I have been making bright and colourful stained glass windows for over 25 years, after I took an evening class and fell in love with the craft. After more training, an apprenticeship and then a full-time position in a stained glass workshop in London, I set up my own studio in 2003.
I use traditional techniques that are centuries-old to create my contemporary stained glass windows. My designs are inspired by an eclectic mix of influences: graphic design, botanical art, geometric patterns and folk art. The colour palettes I use are bold yet simple, and I decorate the glass with hand-painted patterns, which are then kiln-fired.
I love how stained glass art is not just a picture on a wall, but an integral, functional part of a building. I am very interested in interior design and architecture, and how glass can be used to both define and elevate a space.
My work has been commissioned by clients in the UK, Europe and USA and I have made windows for private houses, restaurants and hotels. I am grateful for the opportunity to travel with my work, which was always a dream. My work has been featured by Elle Decoration, Design Milk and The Financial Times.
