Here’s a new piece I recently finished. This “Suburban Stroll” illustration is now available at my store. I always start with a rough, energetic thumbnail sketch. The messier, the better. I scan the sketch and import it into Adobe Fresco where I begin rendering the image by adding highlights and shadows. Once I've got all of the tones established I create a separate layer for my vector line work. I often toggle back and forth between the underlying sketch and use that as a guide for my vector brushstrokes. Before I add color, I make sure that the illustration can stand alone as a high contrast black and white image. Here are some of the final details. I created the moon in Adobe Illustrator.
