I wanted to express the balance between emotions – sadness and joy – through a whimsical, storybook-like setting. We all go through ups and downs, and this piece represents how sweetness, connection, and simple joys (like donuts!) help us move from one mood to another. I was inspired by the idea of emotional duality and how cute characters and colors can make heavy feelings light and hopeful.

1. Sketching: I began with a rough sketch on Procreate to block the composition—two mountains with contrasting emotions and a bridge between them.
2. Character Design: I designed each character individually – the expressive trees, clouds with personality, and of course, the bears and donuts.
3. Color Palette: I chose a soft pastel palette focusing on pinks, lavenders, and mint greens to bring out the kawaii aesthetic.
4. Line Work: I used clean, smooth outlines to give it a sticker-like, polished look.
5. Details & Texture: Added hearts, stars, sparkles, and textures to enhance the playful mood.
6. Final Touches: Balanced the composition and lighting to keep the mood light, dreamy, and unified.
