Hello!
I’m Josie, the founder and pastry chef behind Sweet Josie Bakes! I started Sweet Josie Bakes back in July 2018 during a time when I was dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression. I felt incredibly lost back then and wanted a fresh start. I had always loved baking and art, and nothing made me happier than when I could bring joy to others, especially when that joy came in the form of delicious desserts.
Hence the creation of Sweet Josie Bakes, a place where I could bring my love of art and baking into one. And while I had no idea how to run a small business, I knew I wanted to share my passion with others, in hopes of inspiring a few to follow their dreams as well.
Over 5 years later, not only have I been lucky enough to do what I love every day, but I’ve also discovered a love of teaching. During the 2020 pandemic, I started teaching online classes and have since taught thousands of students during the last 3+ years, which I couldn’t be prouder about!
I’ve come up with my own signature style of teaching, which I like to call “Lazy baking”! Taking hard techniques such as tempering chocolate or piping buttercream flowers and breaking them down into easy, fun steps that anyone can learn, no matter their skill level.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with amazing brands such as The Toronto Raptors, YouTube, DoorDash, Tre Stelle, Country Crock, Beekman 1802, Post Cereals, and so many more. My work has been featured on prominent platforms such as YouTube, Food Network, Buzzfeed Tasty, CTV, Buzzfeed, Unilad, and 9gag.
