Introduction
GLORIA
is huge and powerful. But as much as she is mighty she is
peace-loving
sensitive
respectful
generous
cozy
calm and
in harmony with her environment.
Despite her size and power, she walks in serenity.
Although she has all the potential for shadows, she is light.
She carries everything I admire and would like to have (or be) within her.
Supplies
I used: pencils, marker, paper, tracing paper, linocut, linocutting tools, oilbased inks, brayers, proof press etc.
(see pictures below)
Process
First I searched for inspiration like photographs, texts (lyrics, meaning, famous elephants, history etc.) and my own older works.
I concentrated on elephants and folkloric floral motifs that I know from my childhood.
Than I made some sketches and decided to create and print a 3color linocut.
(I also made another version with outlines but didn´t find the time to print it. Same with scanning the images to enhance them in Photoshop. So sorry for the bad quality.)
More about my inspirations and the process you can find in the images below:

Wonderful! Love linocut ❤️ I can see you also have the little mole in your references 👍🙂
@viktorie yes, you‘re right! I absolutely love the art of Zdenek Miler and other czech illustrators. 😃
there's so much detail in your work! thank you for sharing the process.
@lunarctic thank you so much. Honestly, most of the time I enjoy the process more than the result. :D
