Introduction
I created a watercolour piece of a Jenny wren for a new course. I wanted to incorporate a background

Supplies
I used just the 3 primary colours and 640gsm cotton cold pressed watercolour paper. One brush a suzex12 synthetic round.
Grid the bird
I used the gridding method to draw the bird and branches

Paint the bird
I painted the bird mostly wet into wet using 3 primary colours plus black

Start the backgrounds
I painted the background wet into wet

Add branches
I added the branches afterwards

Add twigs
I then added lighter twigs wet on dry

Beautiful! Such a sense of spring, birdsong and fresh air! May I ask, how do you keep the wet on wet from creeping into the form of the bird? Do you use a resist?
Oh my Sarah - this is just brilliant! Can't wait.xoxo
Que lindo. Me encantó la naturalidad con que se pintó el pajaro
I love it, its beautiful!
J'aime beaucoup ce projet ! On peut apprécier quelques détails de l'oiseau tandis que le fond étant flou apporte l'ambiance (moment de la journée, saison...)
@leslie_md hi Leslie, thank you and good question. I wait for the bird to dry fully and then add just water at first … dropping in the paints whilst still wet :)
@celticpeasant thank you so much!
@uzmancarreraolga thank you so much. I really enjoyed painting it :)
@catherine_bergiron thank you Catherine. Yeah I’m trying to do more work like this with a blend of tight and loose techniques.
@anikekandelaars thank you :)
