Stroke and color of the composition

After choosing the plants, I created a hand-drawn composition, which I then digitized so I could have copies if necessary. I also applied colors to the composition to determine how many and which colors I would need when purchasing the threads.

Transfer to the frame

Using the technique taught in the course, I transferred the outline of the composition to the canvas, already placed on the frame, with a 0.3 mm thick shapie-type pencil or ruler.

Evolution of embroidery

I embroidered from bottom to top and from the background to the most overlapping elements. For the background, I chose three shades of the same color to create a subtle sunset feel. I started with the darkest background shade and then embroidered the elements/plants that were on top of that background. And so on with the rest of the composition.

I paid attention to the outline of the plants, trying to imitate them as best I could with the thread. And in some cases, I was able to give other textures to the elements that resembled balls or dots, such as the Litre seeds or the center of the Bluebell flowers.

End of the project

I finished the project by cutting the edges of the fabric in the round, leaving a remnant to glue against the wood of the frame. Over this, I glued a second silk-type fabric to give it a cleaner finish. I left the thread traces visible on the back of the composition. I like to see the complexity of the work and for it to be a very dense summary of the decisions and chaos that go into the creative process of this craft.
