Dessert Dreams in Wax

For this project, I wanted to capture the cozy and sweet feeling of autumn through dessert-inspired candles. The warm tones, soft texture, and whipped wax technique helped me create something playful and comforting at the same time

Supplies used:

Soy wax, gel wax
Candle wicks
Fragrance oil (caramel & coffee scent)
Liquid candle dyes (red, white, brown)
Glass containers
Electric mixer
Heat gun
Digital scale
Piping bags
Candle molds
Decorative wax pieces (berries and ice cream ball)

First, I prepared the glass containers, cleaned them, and fixed the wicks in place. Then, I melted the soy wax using a double boiler until it reached the right pouring temperature.

For the first candle, I wanted to create the look of a sweet dessert in a glass. I started with a marbling technique to imitate the look of strawberry syrup drips on the sides. Then, I filled the glass halfway with wax and let it set. After that, I whipped the wax until it reached a creamy texture, like whipped cream, and carefully piped it on top. To finish, I decorated the candle with wax berries made using silicone molds.

For the second candle, I wanted to recreate the look of an iced coffee with melting ice cream on top. First, I cut gel wax into small cubes and placed them into the glass. Then I melted a portion of soy wax, added a few drops of white dye and fragrance, and poured it over the cubes to imitate the “milk” layer.
Next, I melted another portion of wax and added brown dye to create the coffee color. I poured this layer on top and immediately placed the ice cream-shaped wax piece made with molds so that it slightly melted into the warm wax, giving the effect of real ice cream blending with coffee.

Step 4: Final thoughts
This course was such a fun and inspiring experience. I really enjoyed experimenting with new techniques like whipped wax, gel wax, and marbled pouring they opened up so many creative possibilities for candle design.
