Introduction
Diana Rikasari × Rework is a creative upcycling project that brings together bold personal style, sustainable design, and thoughtful craftsmanship. Diana's part in this collaboration was to show how discarded garments can be transformed into fun, expressive, contemporary fashion pieces as proof that sustainability and creativity can coexist beautifully.
Rework is a Swiss upcycling fashion company committed to circular design. Instead of producing new textiles, Rework sources secondhand garments such as denim, jackets, shirts, linens, and deconstructs them before reassembling them into new pieces. Known for their responsible production practices and in-house upcycling workshops, Rework champions the idea that “waste is a resource in the wrong place.” Their modern silhouettes, accessible approach, and unique materials make them an ideal partner for creative reinvention and sustainable design.
This project blends Diana Rikasari’s playful, eclectic aesthetics with Rework’s upcycling craft and sustainable principles. Each piece begins with a pre-loved garment and is rebuilt with new colors, patterns, embellishments, and silhouettes together.

Supplies
The project used secondhand garments sourced from Rework (denim jackets, corduroy pants, jumpers, shirts, fleece blankets, quilted blankets, etc.). By using existing materials instead of new textiles, the project emphasizes minimal waste and conscious consumption.

The Creative Process
1. Material Selection – Choosing garments based on texture, color, and potential for reconstruction.
2. Deconstruction – Carefully dismantling seams, removing panels, and isolating usable pieces.
3. Redesign – Sketching new silhouettes or layouts using the available materials.
4. Reconstruction – Sewing panels together, adjusting shapes, adding structure or volume.
5. Detailing – Pattern mixing, appliqué, adding vintage patches, and color-blocking for a signature playful look.
