This course is great as an introduction to embroidery, for those who are interested in learning the craft and for those who want to learn how to upcycle clothes.

Requirements and materials

You don’t need any previous knowledge or experience with embroidery to take this course.

As for materials, you’ll need needles (tapestry needle size 28, embroidery needle size 5), cotton fabric (20x40 cm), a 5-inch hoop (12.5 cm), a water-soluble or tear-away stabilizer, small scissors, a water-soluble or heat erasable-pen, a garment for embroidery, and cotton embroidery 6-ply thread in several colors.

Kseniia Guseva, also known as @faimyxstitch, is an embroidery artist from Saint Petersburg, Russia, who is now based in Berlin. She’s always been interested in creating and has tried everything: knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, sewing, sketching, and beadwork until she finally found hand embroidery in 2016 and it became her medium of choice. She’s been embroidering every day ever since.

Architecture is one of her main interests, which is why she created a series of embroidered city patterns, depicting over 130 cities already. Kseniia also loves to experiment with upcycling and customizing garments like jeans, bags, t-shirts, and even sneakers.
