When it comes to creativity, there are so many possibilities to explore. Loly Ghirardi, better known as Señorita Lylo, continues to experiment and is always looking for innovative ways to tell a story through embroidery. By applying different stitches and combining textures, she embroiders hairstyles that look just like real hair.
In this course, learn various techniques for creating hairstyles that stand out by giving them volume and and adding a unique finish to your embroidery. Using a photo, learn how to add a 3D effect to the textile of your choice.
This is the third of Señorita Lylo’s courses and includes more advanced techniques to add to your embroidery skillset. In her first course, she teaches the basics of embroidery in Basic Embroidery Techniques: Stitches, Compositions, and Color Ranges, and goes a step further in her second course: Advanced Embroidery Techniques: Stitches and Compositions with Volume.

For anyone who wants to go a step further with their embroidery, design their own compositions, and learn new raised stitching techniques.
Requirements and materials
You don’t need any previous experience with embroidery, but it will make some steps of the course easier to follow.
As for materials, you will need fabric or an item of clothing you want to customize, adhesive interlining, threads of various thicknesses, needles, pins, a hoop, and scissors. To trace your photo digitally, you will need a computer with Adobe Illustrator installed. If you choose to do it by hand, you’ll need tracing paper, a printed photo, and a pencil to transfer your design onto the fabric.

Loly Ghirardi, also known as Señorita Lylo, is an embroiderer and graphic designer based in Barcelona. After graduating from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), she worked on design projects but gradually began to leave the digital to one side in favor of crafts. That's how she fell in love with embroidery.
Armed with her hoops, threads, and needles, she creates unique pieces and experiments using different mediums. Each project starts with a conceptual search and each stitch is accompanied by an anecdote, personal story, or place she's visited. Over time, she got the opportunity to teach everything she knows about embroidery and it is a vocation that comforts her and continues to inspire her more and more every day.
