David J East is a British director and photographer raised in South Africa. After studying cinematography in Cape Town, he went on to pursue his career in directing short films, music videos, and commercials throughout Europe and the US. The aim of his work is to convey the visual language of a story, song, or product.
Throughout his career, he has filmed commercials for Mercedes, Jaguar, Cristiano Ronaldo’s CR7 Denim clothing line, Bose, and Guinness. David directed music videos for Foals, Melanie C, Charlotte OC, Gengahr, The Japanese House, Jelani Blackman, Sam Sure, and Thor Rixon. He has also directed his own short films like Down Days and Exert.
