Visual artist and Weaver

Juliana Maia is a visual artist and weaver from Pernambuco who currently lives in São Paulo. Although she's trained in architecture and urban design, she began her artistic career in 2015 when she first came into contact with a loom and discovered she had a knack for weaving. Juliana combines techniques from different art forms in her work, such as sewing, embroidery, and crochet, while also incorporating a variety of mediums like video, drawing, and photography.

She has participated in both group and solo exhibitions, including A Tessitura do Gesto, which took place in 2021 at the Arte Plural Gallery in Recife. When she's not creating, Juliana shares her knowledge by teaching textile art courses across Brazil.
