Laura and Ana María Maya Silva, sisters and creators of the brand VATTEA, introduce you to the endless possibilities of jewelry design by teaching you diverse techniques to master metal and soldering. If you'd like to start with the basics of metal jewelry-making first, try their previous course: Introduction to Jewelry Techniques with Metal.
In this online course, discover how to add a new dimension to your jewelry with dapping. Learn about different types of solder and how to apply them to create more elaborate designs, combining three-dimensional parts with flat ones. Requirements and materials
Basic knowledge of jewelry-making is required. Previous experience in cutting sheet metal would be useful, but not necessary.

Reviews
In 2016, sisters Laura and Ana María Maya Silva combined their knowledge as a jewelry designer and industrial designer respectively to create VATTEA, their own jewelry brand based in Medellín, Colombia. A unique blend of bronze and cotton thread is the main feature of their signature designs, which result in high-quality artisanal jewelry.
At VATTEA, they carefully handcraft each piece and are constantly experimenting with new materials and techniques. The sisters draw on ancient cultures and their conceptual representation through objects and symbols as their principal sources of inspiration. Their jewelry has been featured in magazines including Vogue Latinoamerica, Caras Colombia, Carrusel, and Aló.

PlusThe course is pretty low effort. The translation is automated so most of the technical terms are wrong (for example, stamping became “sausage”).
There were no safety instructions regarding the use of the fire torch, and I think it’s a very bad example that the woman in the video had her hair down the entire time she was soldering.
I also feel there should have been more in-depth explanations for each step, and I wish the camera had zoomed in more, especially for the soldering.

Spero facciate altri corsi!
