Students will create charming clay projects, starting with a homemade clay trinket dish, progressing to air-dry clay tea light holders, and culminating with delightful polymer clay fridge magnets, mastering clay crafting techniques for various materials along the way.

Who is this online course for?

Perfect for parents, teachers, or caregivers eager to engage children in creative activities. Ideal for those wanting to explore clay crafting, encouraging kids to develop fine motor skills, express creativity, and enjoy hands-on learning experiences, whether at home or in educational settings.

Requirements and materials

No extensive prior knowledge is needed, just an eagerness to explore. Necessities include access to various types of clay, simple crafting tools like rollers and knives, a clean workspace, and storage containers to keep creations fresh and pristine.

Parental supervision notes for caregivers.

Dear Caregivers,
I would be delighted to have you and your child join us.
As you know, each child is unique, with his or her own skill levels and abilities. It is important that you supervise, assist, and encourage your child as needed to ensure that he or she has a safe and enjoyable experience with clay.

These are the parts of this course that may require additional supervision:
- In Unit 2 we learn how to make homemade clay on the stove.
- In Units 2 and 3 we use a knife to cut the clay.
- In Unit 4, we must bake the polymer clay in an oven.
- In Units 2 and 3 we use paint to decorate our creations. It's not dangerous, but as a mom, I know how messy painting with kids can be, so I'm including it in this list. :)
Before you start any project, read the packaging on all play dough materials and explain to your child how to use them correctly—especially if you use a different brand of play dough than ours.

Every child is different, and only you know how responsible your child is and what level of supervision and guidance they will need. Your involvement and encouragement not only keep them safe but also build their confidence and enthusiasm. Plus, it's a wonderful way to create lasting memories together.

Thank you for being an essential part of your child's creative adventure.
