Fashion Specialization: Upcycling, Printing and Personalization

Julia Pelletier is a textile designer who specializes in silk screen printing, drawing, and teaching. She studied at L’Ensaama in Paris and at Central Saint Martins College in London. She is the founder and designer of the fashion label ¿Quepasajulia? and her illustrations have appeared in publications like Vogue and AD.

For more than 15 years, she has been teaching textile design at IED Barcelona. Recently, she has been focused on organizing ephemeral artistic interventions, exhibitions, and workshops for museums and cultural institutions like Museo Picasso, MNAC, and Fundació Joan Miró.

Emma Friedlander Collins, better known as Steel and Stitch, has been creating with the use of materials that surround her ever since she can remember, and is now a reference in the world of upcycling and crochet. Self-taught in the art of crochet through online tutorials, Emma understands how powerful learning a creative skill can be, and has crafted an entire career through creating patterns, books, and tutorials to enhance the world of those who want to learn her colorful art.

Her mission is to inspire people in getting more involved in crafts and upcycling, to help tackle the environmental issues we face today. Emma teaches Visual Promotion for students in Fashion Communication in Brighton and creates content related to her craft for various online platforms including LoveCrafts on YouTube, her own Instagram account @steelandstitch that has over 30k followers, among others. She has featured in publications from The Guardian in LoveCrochet, contributed to magazines such as Mollie Makes and Simply Crochet, and wrote several books to teach her patterns and techniques.

Cristin Morgan is a fiber and textile artist, and author of the modern embroidery book Hoop Dreams: Modern Hand Embroidery from Virginia, USA. She has been crafting all her life with a deep love for making things, and has been embroidering since she was a child. As a self-taught embroiderer she has explored many methods and styles and enjoys experimenting with new techniques and materials.

Her work is colorful, bold, and full of texture, and she loves making a personal statement through vibrant pieces and typography. Cristin has been embroidering professionally since 2015 and has had her work featured in several publications including The Strategist, Martha Stewart, Better Homes and Gardens, and Embroidery Magazine. She also teaches workshops and produces patterns and kits for her own brand and for others.

Amy Isles Freeman is a UK-based artist, specializing in painting clothes, creating murals, and designing for print. Her work is joyful and celebratory, focusing on the exploration of the female experience. She studied drawing at Falmouth University in Cornwall, UK, and graduated in 2014. She went on to launch her own business selling her artwork, and was eventually scouted by Le Bon Marché and Liberty London.

She has since gone on to create colorful, bold, and playful designs for clothing both with paint and screen printing. Amy has collaborated with brands like Toast, Vans, Dickies, Finisterre, Ragyard, and Birdsong London, painting custom pieces and designing printed clothing.

Caitlin is a full-time content creator specializing in creative recycling and transforming old garments. Her passion for sustainable fashion started out of necessity and turned into a full-time career.

She has collaborated with various brands and platforms, sharing her knowledge and techniques through tutorials and social media.

Caitlin is known for her practical approach and ability to see potential in garments that others might overlook, inspiring many to adopt a more sustainable approach to fashion.

Luisa Hurtado is a talented fashion designer and content creator specialized in upcycling and sustainable fashion. With an outstanding career, Luisa has collaborated with important brands such as Levi's and has presented her collections at various fashion events.

Her passion for sustainable practices and teaching others to see value in fashion as a path to bringing other original pieces to life has positioned her as a respected figure in the upcycling community.
