In this online course, trade in traditional pencil and paper for digital ones and learn how to draw directly on a graphics tablet or your computer alongside illustrator and educator David Peña, better known as Puño. Explore a variety of creative techniques and hone your artistic skills with fun practice exercises. Puño teaches you the fundamentals of digital illustration by guiding you through his process, from the first sketch to the final art.
If you're interested in further exploring your creativity and bringing out your inner artist, check out Puño's other courses: Creative Drawing Techniques for Beginners, Drawing for Beginners Level -1, and Drawing and Creativity for Big Little Artists.

Begin by getting to know Puño, his work, and his ever-growing "garden of references:" a compilation of all the blogs, graphic resources, illustrators, and styles that inspire him.
Next, learn how to draw with a graphics tablet. Puño walks you through some special exercises he created to help you get your hand and your mind used to working with a digital interface—similar to those composition notebooks from elementary school, but for drawing. Start with simple lines and shapes and move on to gradually more complex ones to put your motor skills to the test and see where your creativity takes you.
Once you've got the hang of it, Puño shows you some expert tricks to make your characters livelier through body language and facial expressions.
Now it's time to work on your project! Run through another set of exercises to spark your creativity and generate great ideas. Pick the one you like best and develop it into your first illustration: a visual representation of a song.
Finally, learn how to add texture to your illustration and separate it into multiple layers for printing.
Create a multilayered illustration to print however you'd like; your teacher shows you how to make a homemade imitation risograph print with several layers of ink.

Anyone interested in learning how to draw and artists, regardless of their level, who want to transfer their traditional drawing skills to the digital realm and learn how to work with a graphics tablet...or simply anybody who wants to play around with drawing!
To take this course, all you need is a graphics tablet (Wacom or similar), a computer, and any version of Photoshop or a similar program, although no previous experience with these tools is necessary.
