Requirements and materials
No previous knowledge is required for this course.
In terms of materials, Paula tells you which materials are essential and which are optional during the course. You can start off with glazes suitable for kiln firing, transfer decals, insulator tape, sponges, powdered glazes, oxide, paintbrushes, and finally, wax, pencils, and ceramic crayons. You also need a ceramic tile and either a homemade or shop-bought ceramic item, as well as access to a kiln.

Paula Casella was born in Argentina and is currently based in Spain. A fine arts graduate with a master's degree in education, she has more than 15 years' experience working as a teacher, muralist, and ceramics designer.
She is a lover of nature and cooking, and combines these two passions in her Bambucito ceramics workshop, where you can enjoy a delicious meal on her handmade crockery.

This course is designed for people with basic to intermediate ceramic skills who want to expand their decorative techniques. You don’t need to be an expert, but some prior experience working with clay or ceramics is recommended.
You’ll need tiles or ceramic pieces, glazes, brushes, waxes, chalks, transfer paper, dispensers, detergent, water, and access to an external ceramic kiln for the final firing.
The techniques can be applied to both store-bought tiles and handmade pieces. The course teaches how to adapt processes to different types of surfaces.
You can decorate your pieces at home and then take them to a ceramic studio or workshop that offers firing services, which is common in cities like Madrid.
Techniques taught include suspended glazes, bubbles, transfers, washes, use of waxes and chalks, metallic lusters, and third firing, applied on tiles and functional pieces.
The final project involves applying several decorative techniques you’ve learned to a functional piece, like a plate or bowl, that you can use in everyday life.

This course gave me lots of new tips for ceramic glazing, especially as a beginner. English subtitles were a bit off though but I was still able to understand the information.
