Ioana Pioaru

Ioana Pioaru is a Romanian-British artist and illustrator specializing in ink drawing. Her work focuses on capturing the interaction between old and contemporary, exploring architectural details with meticulous care and an “old school” style that combines precision and clarity. Through thousands of ink lines and dots, her illustrations build patterns, shapes, and atmospheres full of emotion and nostalgia.

With a Fine Arts degree from Bucharest and a PhD from the University of Chester in artistic maximalism, Ioana blends research and practice in her creative process. Her courses guide students to appreciate light, shadow, and subtle details, teaching them to convey emotions and tell stories with ink in a refined and expressive way.
